Planning for McCormick Place in Chicago
Begin with your building, hall, booth number, and current exhibitor service kit. Use the official campus and building plans to identify the assigned space. McCormick Place projects need a clear plan for receiving, material handling, service connections, and the sequence of work inside the booth.
- Exhibitor manual and move-in: confirm your assigned work window, contractor documentation, display requirements, and approval deadlines before releasing the production plan.
- Freight and advance warehouse: choose the receiving method permitted by the event. Give the carrier the correct labels, receiving address, marshaling instructions, and target arrival window.
- Material handling: distinguish delivery to Chicago from unloading and movement to the exhibit space. Confirm weights, packaging, equipment needs, and the general service contractor’s charges.
- Electrical service: map outlet positions and equipment loads before ordering. Confirm the event’s electrical provider and division of work; do not assume booth fabrication includes building power or all electrical labor.
- Internet: identify demo, payment, streaming, and meeting requirements. McCormick Place Technology Services provides internet and telecommunications; select service based on the application rather than assuming public Wi-Fi will support your exhibit.
- Rigging and installation: coordinate suspended elements, drawings, approvals, labor responsibilities, and utility access with the organizer and authorized providers.
- Return freight: plan empty-container return, packing, outbound paperwork, carrier check-in, and final removal before the show opens.
Review McCormick Place’s official exhibitor information alongside the current show kit. Review the current Exhibitor Bill of Rights; exhibitor employee rights do not automatically apply to contractor personnel. Check the venue’s EAC registration requirements alongside the event’s contractor documentation.
For a practical overview of exhibitor work permissions, freight choices, and service responsibilities, read our McCormick Place Booth Planning Guide.
Official venue resources reviewed October 11, 2026. Confirm current show instructions and service deadlines for your event.

Chicago Convention & Event Venues
McCormick Place is the venue for the two completed projects above. Confirm the assigned building, hall and show kit when planning a future exhibit; a past show’s arrangements do not establish the requirements for another edition.
Donald E. Stephens Convention Center is in Rosemont. Navy Pier, Sheraton Grand Chicago, Hyatt Regency Chicago and Chicago Marriott Downtown Magnificent Mile have their own event spaces and receiving procedures. Send the full venue name, city, room or hall, and event kit. McCormick Place freight and service instructions should not be reused for another site.
What’s Included in Your Chicago Booth Quote?
For McCormick Place, compare exhibit I&D with electrical work and other designated services rather than treating them as one general labor allowance. Use the current event kit.
“May be included” is not a standard package promise. The written proposal determines inclusions, quantities and exclusions. Confirm separately does not always mean an extra charge; it means the item must be specifically agreed.
| Item | May be included in our quote | Confirm separately |
|---|---|---|
| Booth structure | The specified rental structure or custom-built components. | Dimensions, quantities, finishes, reuse or ownership, upgrades and approval requirements. |
| Graphics | Agreed artwork preparation, printing and graphic installation. | Print-ready files, dimensions, substrates, quantities, proofs, revisions and rush changes. |
| Furniture | The counters, tables, chairs or lounge pieces listed in the proposal. | Models, quantities, rental dates, availability and any substitution. |
| AV & lighting | Specified screens, playback, lighting and agreed setup support. | Equipment quantities and support; appliance/demo loads, electrical work and internet only if expressly itemized. |
| Transportation | Specified packing and freight to the agreed receiving point; return transport if listed. | Specify building, hall, receiving route, labels and outbound destination. Carrier delivery, venue material handling and equipment positioning are separate handoffs; confirm waiting fees. |
| Installation & dismantling | Agreed booth assembly, dismantling and site coordination. | Define booth assembly and dismantling, then confirm electrical and designated-service responsibilities and work windows. Confirm equipment, overtime and changes outside the agreed scope. |
| Venue & show services | Order coordination or specific third-party services only when expressly listed. | Material handling, electrical, internet, rigging, cleaning and applicable event fees: confirm provider, ordering deadline, payer and charges. |
Review booth rental, exhibit transportation and installation and dismantling against your current exhibitor manual. Send the manual with your brief so third-party services can be identified early.
